Aileen Lightfoot
was born and raised in Billericay, Essex – an Essex
girl in the best sense of the word (no jokes please). Her
father’s love of classical music and literature spilled
over into her at an early age. (Her father was one of the
world’s leading experts on John Steinbeck).
Aileen’s interest in music led her to start playing
the violin at age seven, followed much later in life by the
flute and saxophone. This has given her the opportunity of
both playing many types of music ranging from classical to
folk and in the last fifteen years the joy of teaching and
passing on some knowledge and enjoyment of music to young
and old alike.
Eight years ago Aileen and her husband Gordon, swapped the
security of England for the unknown quantity of a life on
the Costa Blanca in Spain, intending to spend more time together
(Plan A). She is now teaching 3 days a week (Plan B), but
they love the lifestyle and have no regrets. |

With
a slightly less hectic timetable, Plan C is now to concentrate
more on her writing. The series of Twirly books, which are
picture books aimed at the 5-7 year olds, wonderfully illustrated
by Mischa
Fulljames, are only three in number at the moment. However
further stories are in the pipeline, together with a full
length children’s novel on a different subject entirely.
